Corelle Dishware Design Challenge
2018 - Manhattan, New York

Role: Product Designer
Service: Design/Manufacturing

In 2018, I was selected to participate in a Corelle Design Challenge.
This Design Challenge focused on researching and designing a series of eco-friendly products that solve for larger consumer-focused groups (single and separated parents and their children) who purchase dishware more often.

The answer to the larger consumer-focused group question is the relationship between parents and their children. The current average age population studies suggest many younger generations are now between the age of 20-35, and most of the 50% are starting families within this age group. There are more single, separated parents than ever. Many of these parents are both working and on the go while tending to the needs of their children. Designing a product that can grow with the family and making it iconic was a goal when thinking through the ideology and concept of the dishware series.

After sorting through the findings, it was found that the unique Corelle dishware manufacturing process and durability of the product was one of the company's greatest strengths. Bringing it to a consumer market concerned about single-use products and healthy lifestyles was a great direction. Making portable storage containers and giving fun illustrations to attract younger children was the focused study of the product. After researching children's interactions when eating, getting feedback, and methods parents use to get their children to eat, designing illustrations that made eating a game-like experience with fun experiences proved positive interactions with children.
